Gingered Lemon Zucchini Marmalade and Dilled Sandwich Pickles

Holy Smokes I'm still at it. The marmalade recipe is from the book "Preserving Made Easy-Small Batches & Simple Techniques" by Elle Topp and Mararet Howard.  So far it's my favorite thing I canned....I'm renaming it "Wicked Good Awesome Stuff".  And the sandwich pickle recipe is again from the Ball canning cookbook. It needs to chill in a dark cool place for 3 weeks before it's edible.

Round Three of Zucchini Salsa

This is the same recipe I always use.  It can be found on Food.com  This time I added 3 jalapenos instead of 2 and was lucky enough to have three growing in the garden so I didn't have to buy any.  I'm up to 27 jars of this stuff so far.  Today I have to work on something pickle-y :)  My "Joy of Pickling" cookbook arrived in the mail yesterday.  :) When the tomatoes start turning, I'm going to be clobbered with them.  The plum tree which did horrible last year is so loaded with plums that the branches are starting to bend over.  The deer for some reason are leaving the apple trees alone this year.  Unfortunately we have a brazen coyote that I think is living in the back of the property and may have friends or babies with him/her.  I went out on the back deck the other day at around 8 p.m. and it was casually passing through the backyard.  Didn't run when I yelled at it.  I started to run toward it and it   took off running.  I wish it would just go away before my backyard turns into a scene from Dances with Wolves.  I know it can't get into the chicken coop.  It can't even get under it.  There's wire buried all around it and the coop and run are totally enclosed but when you have  an 8 lb. dog that could be confused for an appetizer.......yeah I wish it would go away.  The hunter camera picked up this picture of it......it's a lot bigger than scrawny California coyotes.

Cucumber Chips

Started this yesterday. Recipe calls for them to sit for about 12 hours before you start the second half of the process.  The recipe is Cucumber Chips from the Complete book of home Preserving by Ball.  I can't find it on line to share.  It's on their Fresh Preserving website :(  So I'm caught up on my pickling cucumbers.....have a ton of zucs to do something with and the tomatoes are starting to kick into high gear.  The jalapeno peppers are looking good too.

Blue and Mauve socks

Stayed up way too late last night finishing up this pair of socks.  Again have no idea what the yarn is or when or where I bought it. Pattern generated by Sock Wizard.  I do Magic Loop method for making socks.  I go cuff down with a kitchener finish but may venture into toe up patterns soon.

Hand dyed sock yarn socks

I finished these last night.  I dyed the yarn myself.  First time.  I had no idea what I was doing but it was fun.  My knitting guild put on a yarn dyeing workshop at one of our monthly meetings.  I had no idea what I was doing. I was just slopping dye on the yarn.   Whatever...if it turns out like crap...it's socks so who will see them :)  The pattern was generated from Sock Wizard software.  I just love that program :) I'm almost done with another pair. Will post a picture of them soon.

Today's pickings :)

Working on a batch of Cucumber Chips (for hamburgers) ready to go :)  One zuc is getting soft so I'll make a loaf or two of zuc bread and then I will make yet another batch of the zuc salsa.  Won't have to buy Jalapeno peppers because ours are coming in :)
