Beautiful Day for Thwacking My Home Spun

Sunny, warm and breezy. The perfect day for thwacking my homespun yarn.   Been putting off my thwacking because who wants to spend time around the smell of wet wool but it was gorgeous out the other day so I dunked, swished, squished and thwacked.  Liking the new wheel and I'm getting slightly better at spinning which just elevates me one step above awful.  Joined a fiber of the month club on line.  So I will be getting a monthly fiber surprise in the mail which will force me to spin more often and hopefully getting better at it.  Hey if Rumpelstiltskin can spin straw into gold, I should be able to do something decent with merino :)  You like my "yarn dryer"??? Also works as a firewood ring in the winter time.  In a previous life, it was part of the wheels on an Amish buggy.

New wheel

Bought a new wheel this weekend on sale :)  My Kromski was getting beat up bringing it to and from Fiber Night so I bought an Ashford Kiwi unfinished. Smaller and don't have to worry about screwing up the finish. Fun wheel. Enjoying it a lot so far. This is the first attempt at spinning on it.  My friend Julie loves purple.  Will be making something out of it for her :)

Another Sapphire Shawl

I had some coupons for DSW so I bought two purses. This yellow one and a rusty orange one for the fall.  Do I look for shoes to match?  No.  I buy yarn :)
So I made one Sapphire Shawl out of some of the yarn....but it turned out to the previous Sapphire Shawl (a.k.a. beaded shawl) I made in the same colors went to my niece Abby.   Upped the needle size and added extra length and this one is for me.

So excited....

We're getting a new addition to the family.  Zoeye.  She's a 1 1/2 yr. old mutt (Norfolk Terrier/Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie). Only 7.5 lbs.   Mutts are the best!  Personally I'd rather rescue a dog than give money to a breeder.  Pedigree means nothing to me.   Can you believe somebody stuffed this little thing into a night time drop box at a bank?  Well as of next Saturday she'll have a good home and her choice of quilts to lay on :)  If you are looking to rescue a dog, consider  Zoeye was saved from a kill shelter by Love Handlers Animal Sanctuary in the Smokey Mountains in TN. They will put her on an animal transport semi and we pick her up in Maine Saturday afternoon :) This is going to be the longest week ever.
